Oh-No-bama Continued

This little gem:

"My first priority will be to reinstate the assault weapons ban as soon as I take office. Within 90 days, we will go back after kitchen table dealers, and work to end the gun show and internet sales loopholes. In the first year, I intend to work with Congress on a national no carry law, 1 gun a month purchase limits, and bans on all semi-automatic guns."

--Barack Obama, VPC Fund Raiser, 2007

Of course, this quote was before the Heller decision from the Supreme Court, however I don't see how he is likely to interpret Heller to be counter to this professed policy.

1. Reinstate the AWB - Clinton AWB template likely. Go buy your ARs and AKs now. Get as many high-cap magazines for those and your handguns now.

2. Go after "kitchen table dealers", end "gun show and internet sales" loopholes. Well these are already regulated. There are certainly "kitchen table FFLs" but these are registered businesses requiring a store front and an investigation by the BATF. There are already requirements that internet sales involve a FFL. There are already requirements that guns bought at a gun show have to require a background check. This is Obama advertising his ignorance of the current law.

3. National no-carry law? What you say? Somebody set up us the bomb! Whoah, this will be a big thing. Let's hope he can't make good on this promise.

4. One gun per month purchase limit? Well now, I guess if there's a national no-carry law, and semi-auto weapons are illegal, it's going to be tough to find any reason to buy more than one gun a month for most people but in reality, is this going to apply to police forces? No? You mean, the police have rights we don't have? This is unconstitutional!

5. Bans on all semi-automatic guns? You mean, like the one on my hip right now? Or the one in the glove box of the car? Or the one that nearly every police officer is carrying? You have got to be kidding me!

This guy truly has his head in the sand. Let's hope Congress sets him straight.
